In the Spring of 2020, our agency was informed by the Government of Alberta that our transportation funding would not be increasing to meet the demands of our growing head start population. As a result, we had to make the decision to reduce the number of yellow buses we could deploy to transport our children to one of our five program locations. We know many of our children benefit from the use of the transportation program provided and this will be a challenge for some families in the 2020-2021 school year.

In response to these budgetary constraints, we explored options to establish which...

Attention ABC Head Start Parents!
We are always looking for ways to improve & make our program the best and safest it can be for you and your children. So you may have noticed a new addition to your child's school bus - seat belts! This is called integrated seating. Your role as a parent is to make sure your child is safely buckled in and to unbuckle them when they arrive home. Please watch this video to gain some helpful tips and understanding of the seat belt system. If you have any questions please contact your site Social Worker for more information.

ABC Head Start is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of 22 Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Centres across Alberta.  We are excited to build on our 32 year history of providing pre-Kindergarten and family support services to children and families in Edmonton by expanding our early childhood services to include high quality and affordable child care.

Please check the weather forecasts daily. We want to be sure that the children are dressed for the weather during the spring season. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page as we post regular updates about the activities in our Sites, and the weather and road conditions which do impact bussing.

Attention PARENTS who are registering for Head Start...here are two helpful tips to help your registration get processed quickly.

1. Make sure the supporting documentation you need to submit (eg. birth certificates) is clear enough for us to read it. Colour copies are best because they tend to come out clearest!

2. If you are submitting your leisure access pass as proof of income, it is the receipt that states leisure access pass we will need to see not that pass itself.

Thank you for working so hard to make sure we have the correct documentation. Let us know if you have questions or need...

With the support of volunteers, ABC Head Start Society is able to support vulnerable children and families throughout the year. Volunteers contribute by sharing their ideas, talents and energy to events, on our Board of Directors and fundraisers, and in providing direct support to children, parents/caregivers and families.
