It Takes a Village: Celebrating Volunteer Week and the Power of Partnership
At ABC Head Start Society, we know that the work we do doesn’t happen alone. It happens because of a community of dedicated people and partners who believe in the power of early learning and the importance of lifting families up. During Volunteer Week, we’re taking time to celebrate the many hands and hearts that make this work possible—including the incredible community champions who stand alongside us year after year.
Among those champions is MHK Insurance—a partner whose relationship with ABC Head Start spans nearly four decades.
Nearly 40 Years of Standing Together
MHK Insurance has played a vital role in supporting ABC Head Start’s mission to give children the best possible start in life. What began as an insurance relationship has grown into a meaningful, long-standing partnership grounded in shared values, trust, and care for community.
Their team has gone well beyond providing coverage—they’ve become active participants in the life of our organization. From volunteering at Literacy Backpack Day and community block parties, to volunteering at our Casino fundraisers, to rolling up their sleeves and assembling furniture for our classrooms, MHK continues to show their commitment in real, hands-on ways.
Advocates, Volunteers, and Champions for Children
This past year, MHK stepped up once again, this time in support of our Literacy Backpack Day, a graduation event that celebrate all the accomplishments of our little learners over the past year. But true to their giving spirit, they didn’t stop there. MHK also invited their partners at Northbridge Insurance to join the effort—successfully securing a matching donation that doubled the impact for the families we serve.
MHK’s approach reflects the giving culture they’re known for—a philosophy of supporting grassroots initiatives that might not always get the spotlight, but where the need is great and the outcomes are life-changing.
