Our Preschool program is operated under the 'Head Start' model, which focuses on supporting children’s health, well-being, and educational future. ABC Head Start is a registered charity. Our services are designed for families who are experiencing challenges in meeting their full potential, whether that is due to income, disability, family dynamics, or some other challenge that we can support them with so they get off on the best path before kindergarten. We know that children are most successful in resilient families and supportive communities. The program features specialized support that helps families build protective factors and strengthen their support network. These features include:

For the Child:

  • Play based and supportive learning environment

  • Skilled educators

  • Inclusive classrooms

  • Culturally diverse programming that supports children who are learning multiple languages

  • Outdoor play

  • Opportunity for support from healthcare professionals for on-site screening and health services through the year

  • Specialized supports may be available when needed, through Alberta Educations PUF program

For the Caregiver:

  • 10-months of support from a registered social worker who will walk alongside your family

  • Help with food security and meeting other basic needs

  • Connection and supported referrals to other community services that can help your child and family

  • Parenting support groups that help you meet other families and build a natural support network in your community

  • Parenting education and courses that empower you with the skills and knowledge to be the best parent for your child
