STEP 1: Determine which program is available for your child’s age:

As a registered charity, these programs are offered free-of-charge for eligible children.

For children to be eligible for ABC Head Start programs, these things are considered: 

  1.  household income and family vulnerability

  2. developmental support needs (PUF eligibility)

STEP 2: Fill Out ‘Application Part 1’

Your application will be sorted by the age of your child: If your child is turning 3 on or before December 31, 2024, you will be applying for the ‘Explorers’ program which runs 2 days per week. Transportation is not provided for this program. If your child is turning 4 on or before December 31, 2024, you will be applying to attend Pre-K which is 4 days per week and transportation may be provided on a yellow school bus.

What You Need To Get Started: During the application, you will need to upload copies of Eligibility documents such as:

  • Child’s Citizenship Documents (e.g., Canadian birth certificate, permanent resident card, temporary resident visa, etc.)

  • Previous Assessment Documents (if you have them)

  • Current Guardianship documents (if applicable)

These documents are required to process your application. Please make sure to upload clear, color copies of documents when submitting the Head Start Registration form or processing time will be delayed.

Processing Timelines

Due to the volume of applications received, processing times can be up to 2-3 weeks. If you have not heard from our team after 3 weeks, please call us and we will check the status of your application.
