Volunteer positions available:
 
Classroom Assistant
  • Volunteer classroom assistants work as part of a teaching team in the delivery of a language/play based learning experience.  Volunteer assistants help the children with their daily activities, acting as role models and mentors.  Time commitment is approximately 3 hours per week.

 
Childcare Assistant
  • Volunteers assist staff with the care of infants to 3 years old while their parents attend a parent group.  Time commitment is approximately 3 hours per week.

 
Clerical Assistant:
  • Volunteers assist administration staff with clerical tasks relating to the operation of the program.

 
Fundraising:
  • Volunteers helping with fundraising events such as the Scarecrow Festival (see below), casino, Great Human Race, etc.

Background/Requirements:
To be placed in a permanent volunteer position with ABC Head Start
every individual MUST:
1. Have an interview with the community coordinator
2. Complete a training session
3. Sign a statement of confidentiality
4. Submit to a police security check and a child welfare check.
