First Day of Classes for ABC Head Start is Wednesday, September 6.

All registered families should have received a welcome package with information regarding your child's school site, classroom and time.  If you did not receive this please contact coordinator@abcheadstart.org.

Please send your child wearing the nametag provided in their welcome package and a clean pair of indoor shoes.  All snacks are provided so no need to send food.

ABC Head Start is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of 22 Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Centres across Alberta.  We are excited to build on our 32 year history of providing pre-Kindergarten and family support services to children and families in Edmonton by expanding our early childhood services to include high quality and affordable child care.

Registration Update for 2017/2018 

Welcome to ABC Head StartWe are still accepting applications for the 2017/2018 school year. For more information, please click on the links below. Please complete your application and send your eligibility documents to the Administration Office. You can also visit the boundary map tab to see if you live within the catchment area of programming offered through ABC Head Start.

Please check the weather forecasts daily. We want to be sure that the children are dressed for the weather during the spring season. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page as we post regular updates about the activities in our Sites, and the weather and road conditions which do impact bussing.

LITERACY BACKPACK DAY - JUNE 20, 2014

Every year, ABC Head Start provides backpacks to our children filled with the tools they need to be successful in their educational journey.  Watching the faces of the children as they receive their backpacks is priceless, as they light up with excitement and joy.  The backpacks are filled with books, crayons, pencils, a "reading buddy" (stuffed teddy), a glue stick, and many more tools to support their learning.  

For just $40 you can buy a backpack for an ABC Head Start child.

The last day of classes for the 2016-2017 program year is Wednesday, June 28, 2017. We wish all of the children, and families all the best in the years ahead.  

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I was pondering once again how great my job is.  Here at ABC Head Start Society I get to write all of the THANK YOU letters and cards.  What an awesome job!  I love handwriting cards and putting down my sincere thoughts and gratitude in writing.  And I tell ya, there is a lot to be thankful for when you are the Development & Stakeholder Relations Manager at ABC Head Start Society.  The community support we receive EVERY.  SINGLE.  DAY.  is truly touching.

A few of us ABC Head Start Society staff were at an event on Thursday.  We had the opportunity to chat with community members.  Some of the community members had never heard of our organization before, or some related ABC Head Start strictly to education.  As we discussed ABC Head Start Society, it was wonderful to be able to say "Oh but we are so much more than an education program."  ABC Head Start provides support and programming for the whole family.  The Head Start program is geared towards children ages 2 - 5 years old AND THEIR FAMILIES because we realize that that is where the big changes...
